WALNUT RIDGE, ARK. - The Lyon College women's soccer Scots battled the Williams Baptist Eagles to a 3-0 loss in Walnut Ridge on Tuesday afternoon in American Midwest Conference play.
The Scots (1-12-0, 0-5-0) had six attack shots in the match and three kicks on-goal. Williams Baptist led 2-0 at halftime and added another goal late in the second period to take the victory.
Rhyan Hioki, Lyon College's goalie, made nine saves in the match, while
Hailey Williams had two shots and one on-goal,
Alli Mead had one on-goal shot,
Alice Pelham had one shot on-goal, while
Taylor Hammons and
Ashlyn Winters each had one shot.
In the first half, Hammons took a shot for the Scots in the first seven-and-a-half minutes of the game that went high over the goal. The Eagles got their first goal at the 27:01 mark of the first half and the second goal came with less than five minutes to go in the period.Â
In the second period,
Kate Whitenton took a corner kick for the Scots that was headed by Williams, but it was just wide of the goal. Lyon College got another corner kick by Whitenton that went out of bounds and
Allison Byars took a corner kick that was headed by Winters wide of the goal. That was the last shots the Scots would get in the match.
Williams Baptist got its third goal at the 73:15 mark of the second half.Â
