Ben Keton scored 24 points, John Paul Morgan put 11 points, while Grant Patterson and Trenton Bell each scored 10 apiece in a 90-62 loss to the Missouri Baptist University Spartans in American Midwest Conference play at Becknell Gymnasium on Thursday.
Morgan scored a double-double again for the Scots, when the AMC leader hauled in 11 more rebounds against Missouri Baptist. Keton was 4-of-8 on three-pointers and Patterson was a perfect four-for-four at the free throw line.
Brendon Hardy led the Spartans with 20 points to lead four other Missouri Baptist players in double-figures.
Positive COVID tests had brought the number of Scots on the court against the Spartans down to seven and Missouri Baptist jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Eric Koludrovic made a jumper from the free throw line to get Lyon the scoreboard. Keton followed with three free throws to tie the game at 5-5.  The Scots had a brief lead 9-7 when Morgan hit from inside at the 16:40 mark of the first half.
Bell hit a three-pointer seconds later to keep Lyon in front by one point. From there, the Spartans went on a 12-0 run to lead 25-12. Patterson made two free throws and Keton made a running jumper. Morgan made two free throws and Bell hit another three-pointer to close the gap to 10 points, 33-23 with 5:15 to go in the first half.
The Spartans used another 9-0 run before the end of the half to lead by 53-32.
Morgan scored the first eight points of the third quarter for Lyon, but Missouri Baptist extended its lead to 66-39. Keton hit a three-pointer from the left wing, Bell hit a 12-footer and Keton put in two more baskets. Devan Halford hit a trey for the Scots to cut the lead to 70-51 with 10:53 to play.
