Four Scots scored in double-figures to lead Lyon College over the University of Health, Sciences and Pharmacy Eutectics 73-61 on Saturday afternoon in the American Midwest Conference on the road in St. Louis.
Ben Keton scored 22 points and had six rebounds,
Grant Patterson scored 19 points, had five rebounds and six assists,
Trenton Bell scored 14 points and had six rebounds and
John Paul Morgan scored another double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds.
As a team, the Scots were 42.2 percent from the floor (27-of-64), made 8-of-15 three-pointers for a 53.3 percent average and went 11-for-14 at the free throw line for 78.6 percent. The Scots scored 22 points in the paint, had nine second chance points and had six points off the bench in a game where the lead changed only twice. Lyon led nearly the entire game and held as much as a 15-point lead with 9:45 to go in the second half.
RJ Wright led the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy with 15 points. Alassane Ba had 11 points and Trae Meny had 10 points.
UHSP led 5-0 before Morgan scored inside and Keton hit a three-pointer. Keton and Patterson followed with field goals and Keton's three-pointer at the 14:31 mark put Lyon up 12-9.
Eric Koludrovic scored inside, Patterson made a three-pointer and Morgan put in a layup in the paint for a 19-9 lead. Koludrovic scored again, Patterson made two free throws and completed a three-point play for a 26-12 advantage with 5:58 left in the first half. Bell scored, Patterson put in a layup and Keton hit a jumper for a 32-26 lead, but Meny made a three-pointer at the buzzer to cut the Lyon lead down to three points.
UHSP got as close as one point early in the second half, but a trey from Bell, two free throws from Patterson and another three-pointer from Bell pushed Lyon's lead to 40-31. Bell made his third trey of in a matter of three and half minutes to make it 43-33.
Morgan scored,
Jonathan Iliya got a jumper to fall, then Morgan and Keton followed with field goals. Patterson made a three-pointer, Koludrovic put in a layup in the paint for a 56-41 lead (15-points). UHSP got with nine points, but six straight points from Keton and a three-pointer from Bell put Lyon ahead 65-52 with 4:12 to play. Keton ended the scoring within two free throws for a 73-59 advantage for the Scots.
