Furutani Scores Twice; Scots Top Golden Eagles, 3-1

Kanata Furutani scored two goals in Scots’ 3-1 win over John Brown

BATESVILLE, Ark. Kanata Furutani scored two goals over the final 30 minutes of play as the Lyon College men's soccer team defeated John Brown, 3-1, at home on Tuesday.

With the win, the Scots improved to 2-1 overall, while JBU fell to 2-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Scots struck first in the 56th minute as Matias Lopez found Andrei Galca open deep inside the Golden Eagles' half of the field. Galca curled the ball into the right upper-90 and gave the Scots a 1-0 lead.

Less than five minutes later, the Scots struck again as Marcos Fernandez delivered a pass to Furutani who delivered a shot into the back of the net and extended the Lyon College lead to 2-0.

John Brown cut the deficit in half in the 78th minute as Adrian Immel scored on a cross that was sent into the box, but Furutani put the game away with his second goal of the match in the 83rd minute as he slotted a ball past the JBU keeper into the bottom-left corner.

Dan Huff got the start in goal and made one save on the night for the Scots.

The Scots will return to action on Saturday at William Carey. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
