Scots Drop Final Two Games at MBU

The Lyon College baseball team dropped its final two games at Missouri Baptist on Saturday

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Lyon College baseball team dropped its final two games of its four-game American Midwest Conference series at Missouri Baptist on Saturday by scored of 4-0 and 9-8 (10 Inn.)

The Scots fell to 10-16 overall and 5-7 in the AMC, while the Spartans improved to 16-9 overall and 9-3 in the AMC.

Game Three: MBU 4, Lyon 0

The Scots were unable to record a hit in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader as Matthew Hess tossed a complete game, no-hitter for the Spartans.

Alan West suffered the loss on the mound for the Scots as he allowed four runs on six hits while striking out four over six innings pitched.

Game Four: MBU 9, Lyon 8 (10 Inn.)

The Scots got on the board first in the series finale as Troy Strack let off the game with a single. After a wild pitch and a groundout moved Strack to third, Haydn Finley brought him home with an RBI-groundout.

The Spartans responded with a run in the bottom of the first and three more in the second to take a 4-1 lead over the Scots.

Lyon cut the deficit in half with a run in the top of the third on an RBI-double by West, but MBU got the run back in the bottom of the fourth.

The Scots put across six runs in the late innings as Lyon scored twice in the sixth, three times in the seventh and one more in the eighth. After a run in the bottom of the sixth by the Spartans, Missouri Baptist added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as the game went into extra innings.

Missouri Baptist won the game in the bottom of the 10th inning on a bases-loaded walk.

Tristan Buschow led the Scots offensively as he finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.

Cameron Hockle suffered the loss as he allowed one run on one hits while striking out one over 1.2 innings in relief.

The Scots will continue their road trip with another four-game series at Central Baptist College on Apr. 9-10.
