O'FALLON, Mo. The Lyon College baseball team earned a series split at Harris-Stowe after the Scots and Hornets traded wins in the final two contests of their series on Friday afternoon. The Scots won game three of the series by a score of 6-5 before the Hornets won the series finale, 3-1.

The Scots moved to 17-21 overall and 12-12 in the AMC, while the Hornets now stand at 10-17 overall and 6-10 in the AMC.

Game Three: Lyon 6, HSSU 5

The Scots erased a five-run deficit with six unanswered runs over the final three innings to take game three of the series, 6-5.

The comeback started in the top of the sixth when Joe Weatherford scored on a groundout by Tristan Buschow.

Troy Strack and Alan West hit back-to-back singles to start the seventh inning before Weatherford walked to load the bases. Jake Michener got hit by a pitch to bring in the first run of the frame before an error by the Hornets and a single by Chris Lara brought home three runs to knot the score at 5-5.

West knocked a two-out double in the top of the eighth and came around the score the eventual game-winning run on an RBI-single by Finley.

West picked up the win on the mound after tossing seven strong innings with seven strikeouts. Nash Winters earned the save as he tossed a scoreless eighth inning with a pair of strikeouts.

West, Weatherford and Lara led the Scots offensively with three hits each, while Troy Strack finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate.

Game Four: HSSU 3, Lyon 1

A pair of runs by Harris-Stowe in the bottom of the fifth proved to be the difference in the series finale as the Hornets took game four by a score of 3-1.

Harris-Stowe plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI-double by Bay To before the Scots tied the game in the next half inning on an RBI-single by Michener.

The Hornets scored the final two runs in the game on a bunt single by Logan Dryden and a sacrifice fly by Turner McDonald.

Cameron Gordon suffered the loss on the mound as he allowed three runs on four hits with one strikeout over 4.2 innings pitched. Ethan Denney tossed a scoreless inning of relief.

West, Finley, Weatherford and Michener all recorded one hit each for the Scots.

The Scots will conclude their regular season on the road next weekend with a four-game American Midwest Conference series at Hannibal-LaGrange.
