Scots Cruise Past Blue Mountain College in Straight Sets

Lyon College Volleyball Defeated BMC Tonight, 3-0

BATESVILLE, Ark.  The Lyon College volleyball team put together an impressive performance this evening as the Scots overpowered Blue Mountain College in straight sets.

Lyon improves to 4-5 on the season, while Blue Mountain College drops to 5-7 on the year.

GAME FLOW
Lyon roared out of the gates as one of Maggee Hobson's ten kills in the contest gave the Scots an early 6-1 advantage over BMC. The toppers would work their way back into the game and took the lead, 20-19. However, Lyon quickly responded and closed out the set on another 6-1 run to take the first frame, 25-21.

Just like the first set, the Scots got off to a quick 5-0 lead in the second stanza capped off by a Levia Taegtmeyer kill, assisted by Kaitlyn Jackson. BMC cut Lyon's lead to four points at 13-9. However, that was the closest the visitors from Mississippi would get as the Scots continued to use their length at the net and high-powered hitting to win the second set, 25-15.

In the third set, both squads exchanged points until Blue Mountain College took a 13-10 advantage. The Scots would answer with a quick 4-0 run and recapture the lead on a block from Alley Edwards and Maria Eleni Bampiri, 14-13. A few points later, the Toppers tied the frame at 15 apiece. The Scots, though, continued their efficient passing and solid play to close out BMC in the third set, 25-21, to complete the sweep.

KEY STATISTICS
- Alley Edwards paced the Scots with 14 kills in the contest.
- Kaitlyn Jackson tallied a team-high 20 assists, while Maggee Hobson notched her ninth consecutive double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs.

COACH'S CORNER
"It was good to see how we responded to the message that we have been preaching in practice. We did a much better job of playing together as a team. We need to continue to appreciate the process of what we are trying to build here. By doing so, we will enjoy it even more." – Coach Dustin Sahlmann

WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE SCOTS
The Scots will return to the court on Friday for a showdown against William Woods University. This will be the first American Midwest Conference match for the Scots this season. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
