CONWAY, Ark. – The Lyon College softball team fell to No. 14 Central Baptist College, 5-1 and 4-3, in a conference doubleheader on Tuesday.
Lyon moves to 3-19 overall, 0-4 in the AMC, while No. 14 Central Baptist College improves to 16-6 on the year, 4-0 in the AMC.
Game One: No. 14 Central Baptist College 5, Lyon 1
The hosts from Conway wasted no time as the Mustangs got three consecutive hits to open the bottom half of the first inning, highlighted by a 2-RBI double by Allison Seats.
The score would remain 2-0 in favor of Central Baptist College until the fourth inning. CBC's Baleigh Jackson hit a solo home run, giving the Mustangs a 3-0 advantage.
The Scots, though, would answer back with a run of their own in the top of the fifth inning. Madison Sanson crushed a 2-1 pitch over the center field fence, trimming CBC's lead to just two.
The Mustangs tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, en route to a 5-1 victory over Lyon College in the first game of the doubleheader.
Offensively,
Halley Gamewell paced the Scots as she went 2-for-2 in the contest.
Game Two: No. 14 Central Baptist College 4, Lyon 3
The game remained scoreless until the top of the third inning. A one-out double by
Addison Harmon and single by
Kassidy Robinson put runners on the corner.
Jasmine Carlos, then, ripped a single up the middle, plating Harmon and giving Lyon a 1-0 lead.
The Mustangs answered back with a run of their own in the bottom half of the third inning on a one-out RBI single by Allison Seats, knotting the game at one.
Kassidy Robinson led off the top of the fifth inning with a single. With one out in the frame,
Jasmine Carlos delivered an RBI double down the left field line, scoring Robinson and giving Lyon the lead back. After a pop out,
Anna Beth Conditt, hit a clutch two-out RBI single to right center, giving the Scots a 3-1 lead.
Central Baptist College, though, would answer right back with a two-out 3-run home run by Allison Seats, giving the Mustangs their first lead of the game.
The score would remain 4-3 in favor of the Mustangs heading into the top of the seventh inning. Lyon put the tying run on base, but was unable to get her home and fell to CBC by a score of 4-3.
Offensively,
Kassidy Robinson paced the Scots as she went 3-for-4 in the contest with a run scored and a stolen base.
UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
The Scots travel to Missouri for a pair of conference doubleheaders. Lyon will take on Hannibal-LaGrange University on Friday and Missouri Baptist University on Saturday.
