CONWAY, Ark. – The Lyon College softball team fell to Midland University, 8-0, in five innings in the first game of the day. The Scots played No. 2 USAO for the second time in as many days and lost to the Drovers by a score of 6-3.
Lyon falls to 3-17 overall, 0-2 in the AMC, while Midland University improves to 11-5 and No. 2 USAO moves to 19-2.
Game 1: Midland 8, Lyon 0 (5 Innings)
Midland's Emily Prai led off the game with a triple to deep right field. A Katlin Anders double and a Roni Foote single gave the Warriors an early 2-0 lead.
In the second inning, Midland sent 10 Warriors to the dish, while scoring six runs and putting the Warriors up by eight runs.
Midland's Aliyah Rincon kept the Scots off balanced all afternoon, en route to a five-inning complete game shutout.
Celsey Wood paced the Scots offensively as she had the lone hit for Lyon in the contest.
Game 2: No. 2 USAO 6, Lyon 3
Lyon got on the scoreboard first in the second game of the day. A pair of singles by
Celsey Wood and
Halley Gamewell put runners on the corner with one out in the top of the first inning.
Jasmine Carlos, then, reached first on a wild throw by USAO, scoring Wood and giving Lyon a 1-0 lead.

Riley Shaw single and an
Olivia Floyd walk put runners on first and second with no outs in the top of the second inning. Following an
Addison Harmon sacrifice bunt,
Kassidy Robinson laid down a bunt and reached first on a bobble by USAO, scoring both Shaw and Floyd. The Scots would take a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the second inning.
The score remained 3-0 in favor of the Scots until the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out in the frame, USAO's Madelyn Blair hit a sacrifice fly to cut Lyon's lead to two. An RBI single by Darci Chester and an RBI triple by Alyson Clemence knotted the game at three through four innings of play.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Drovers put runners on second and third with one out. An infield single by Tarrah Madron scored one USAO runner, giving the Drovers a 4-3 lead. A Madelyn Blair 2-RBI single extended USAO's advantage to three.
Lyon would try to string a rally together in the sixth or seventh inning, but were unsuccessful and fell to No. 2 USAO by a score of 6-3.
Riley Shaw paced Lyon offensively as she was 2-for-4 in the contest with a run scored. In the circle, the Scots were led by
Katelyn Platt as she struck out three over four innings, while limiting the Drovers to three runs.
UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
The Scots will have a week off before traveling back to Conway to take on No. 14 Central Baptist College on Mar. 30 in a conference doubleheader with the first game starting at 3:00 p.m.
