Lyon continued their efficient setting and hitting to go on a 9-0 run that was capped off by an Adia Sherbeyn service ace to put the Scots up 22-9. The visitors from Batesville would finish off the set, 25-13, to take a 1-0 lead heading into the second stanza.

Freed-Hardeman University got off to an early 10-6 lead in the early stages of the second set. The Scots trimmed FHU's advantage to one point on multiple occasions. However, FHU had the answers and took the second set, 25-20.

After falling behind, 4-0, to begin the third frame, the Scots used a 7-0 run that was capped off by a Kaitlyn Jackson kill to take a 7-4 lead over the Lady Lions. FHU, though, quickly knotted the game back up at 11 apiece. The Scots answered by using another run to recapture the lead at 17-14 following a block by Levia Taegtmeyer and Maggee Hobson. FHU, though, continued to trim into Lyon's lead until they tied the set at 21 apiece. Each team exchanged points until FHU won the two most crucial rallies to take the third set, 27-25.

The Lady Lions continued to use the momentum they gained in the previous set to take an early 9-2 lead. The visitors from Batesville showed their resilience again as they cut FHU's advantage to just two points, 12-10, following two consecutive Erin Haigwood service aces. The Scots tried to cut into FHU's lead even more, but FHU did not allow that as they won the set, 25-15, and match, 3-1.
