BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College baseball team will open up American Midwest Conference play with a four-game series this Saturday and Sunday against (RV) Columbia College at Fred Wann Field. The Scots and Cougars will open up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m., while the final two games of the series will take place on Sunday beginning at noon. Lyon will hold a ceremony for the new lights at Fred Wann Field between games during Saturday's doubleheader.

Spectators for Lyon College Athletic home events will be limited to Lyon College faculty, staff and students (must show Lyon ID), as well as two family members (including children) for Lyon College student-athletes competing at the event (must present card to enter). Gates open 30 minutes prior to the start of the first game each day. Masks must be worn at all times and fans must maintain social distancing.

THE MATCHUP
The Scots enter this weekend's series with a record of 5-9 overall.
Alan West enters the weekend leading the Scots with 13 hits and nine RBI this season. West is currently batting .342 on the year as he is 13-for-38 at the plate. Of his 13 hits, six have gone for extra bases as West has five doubles and one home run so far this season. West has also scored six times, which is one shy of Jake Michener's team-high seven runs scored. Logan Doody has been efficient at the plate for the Scots while splitting time at catcher as he is batting .417, going 5-for-12 at the plate.
This weekend's starting rotation on the mound for the Scots will likely consist of Lex Meinderts, Alan West, Marcelo Terrazas and Cameron Gordon. Meinderts is 1-4 with a 2.05 ERA and has struck out 31 batters in 22 innings pitched. West is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA and has struck out 40 batters in 24 innings pitched. Terrazas is 1-3 with a 5.12 ERA and has struck out 18 batters in 19.1 innings pitched. Gordon is 1-0 with a 9.31 ERA and has struck out nine batters in 9.2 innings pitched.
Columbia enters the weekend at 9-2 overall.
The Cougars have four regular starters who are batting over .400 entering this weekend's series, led by Dalton Bealmer, who is batting .514 (19-for-37). Justin Randle is second on the team with a .43 average (13-for-30). Brad Prebay is third on the team with a .425 average (17-for-40), while Kendrick Delima is hitting .417 (15-for-36).
The Cougars starting rotation this weekend will likely consist of Chris Wall, Travis Bassford, Mark Haire and Kam Dohogne. Wall is 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA and has struck out 31 batters in 17 innings pitched. Bassford is 0-1 with a 3.24 ERA and has struck out six batters in 8.1 innings pitched. Haire is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA and has struck out 14 batters in 10 innings pitched. Dohogne is 0-0 with a 9.35 ERA and has struck out eight batters in 8.2 innings pitched.
