BATESVILLE, Ark. – No. 4 Columbia College scored three first-half goals, while Lyon scored a first-half goal and two second-half goals to force overtime. It was the Cougars, though, who scored the golden goal to defeat Lyon College by a score of 4-3 on Saturday.
Lyon moves to 3-3-1 overall, 2-1 in the AMC, while Columbia College improves to 10-2 overall, 6-0 in the AMC.
GAME FLOW
The visitors from Missouri wasted no time as Columbia's Erik Rajoy scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the contest, giving the Cougars a 2-0 advantage. Columbia would add a goal in the 29
th minute to increase their lead to three. Lyon would get a goal of their own in the 42
nd minute as
Punya Saleekul directed the cross into the back of the net, trimming Lyon's deficit to two. The score would remain 3-1 in favor of the Cougars as the halftime whistle sounded.

Leo Galdino found a cutting
Nate Ayalew. Ayalew chipped a shot over the goalie and into the back of the net, cutting Columbia's lead in half. Just four minutes later, Ayalew collected a rebound and scored his second goal of the contest, knotting the match at three. After 90 minutes of play, the score remained 3-3 as both sides headed into overtime.
In the overtime period, it was Columbia who generated the first chance. Columbia's Erik Rajoy sent a corner kick into the box. Aaron Fernandez was the first to the ball and headed it into the back of the net, earning the golden goal and giving No. 4 Columbia College a 4-3 victory over the Scots on Saturday.
