BATESVILLE, Ark. – Missouri Baptist University used a first-half goal and a pair of second-half goals to defeat Lyon College by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.
Lyon moves to 3-4-1 overall, 2-2 in the AMC, while Missouri Baptist University improves to 8-4 overall, 5-2 in the AMC.
GAME FLOW
The Spartans got on the scoreboard first in the 28
th minute as Antonio Busso struck a shot from about 30 yards away and buried it into the back of the net, giving MBU an early 1-0 lead. The Scots, though, would answer back. In the 41
st minute,
Leo Galdino took a set piece and bent a shot around the wall into the upper left portion of the net, knotting the match at one. The match would remain tied after 45 minutes of play.
Missouri Baptist University broke the tie with a goal in the 49
th minute as Joseph Ruane played a ball ahead to Louie Perez. Perez delivered a shot into the left side of the net, giving MBU a one-goal lead. The Scots sent more guys forward in search for the equalizer. Lyon was unsuccessful, though, and MBU tacked on a late goal in the 86
th minute, en route to a 3-1 victory over Lyon College on Tuesday afternoon.
