Scots Edged by JBU in Five Sets

Lyon College Volleyball Lost to John Brown University Tonight

BATESVILLE, Ark. – Just like last night's Lyon College volleyball match, tonight's contest between the Scots and John Brown University needed all five sets to determine a winner. The Scots pushed the Golden Eagles all night long, but came up just a little short as JBU snuck out a narrow victory.

Lyon moves to 3-4 on the season, while John Brown University improves to 3-0 on the year.

GAME FLOW
Lyon roared out of the gates as the Scots took the first set, 25-18. John Brown University answered back with the second-set victory to tie up the match at one set apiece.

The Golden Eagles won a close third set, 25-23.

In the fourth set, the Scots got off to a fast start to take an early 8-4 advantage. Then, Maggee Hobson stepped to the service line and registered four aces over the next five points to help extend the Lyon lead to 13-4. The Scots continued their terrific play as they coasted to a 25-16 fourth-set victory and tie the match up at two sets apiece to set up a pivotal fifth set.

With Lyon trailing by one point, 8-7, midway through the final set, the Golden Eagles used a 5-0 run to push their lead to six points, 13-7. However, the Scots would quickly regain their composure and fight back to cut the lead to two, 13-11. Lyon staved off three match points to take the lead at 15-14 after an Alley Edwards kill, assisted by Kaitlyn Jackson. JBU, though, would go on to convert on the next three points to win the set, 17-15, and match, 3-2.
