BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College Scots used a pair of goals in each half to defeat Stephens College by a score of 4-1 on Saturday.
Lyon moves to 1-2 overall, while Stephens College falls to 0-3 on the season.
GAME FLOW
Both sides generated chances in the first half, but it was the Scots who got on the scoreboard first. In the 30
th minute,
Sarah Evans snuck a shot into the back of the net, giving Lyon a 1-0 advantage. The Scots would score a second goal just one minute later as
Taylor Hammons scored her first collegiate goal. The score would remain 2-0 in favor of Lyon as the halftime whistle sounded. Lyon outshot Stephens, 12-5.
The Scots picked up right where they left off as
Emma Brandes scored her first goal of the season in the 66
th minute. Just seven minutes later,
Sarah Evans found
Hailey Gonzales who struck a shot into the back of the net, extending Lyon's lead to four. The Stars scored a goal in the 77
th minute to make the score 4-1 in favor of the Scots. Lyon's defense continued to stymie the Stars, en route to a 4-1 conference victory.
