No. 18 Scots Prepare for Rematch with Lady Eagles

The 18th-ranked Lyon College women’s basketball team and Williams Baptist will square off for the second time in five days

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 18th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team will not have to wait long to avenge their first loss of the season as the Scots and Williams Baptist will square off for the second time in a five-day span on Tuesday night. The Scots will host the rematch at 5:30 p.m. in Becknell Gymnasium.

Spectators for Lyon College Athletic home events will be limited to Lyon College faculty, staff and students as well as two family members (including children) for Lyon College student-athletes competing at the event (must present card to enter). Admission is $5 per person (athletic events are free to all current students, staff, and faculty with Lyon ID.) Seating is limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Gates open 30 minutes prior to tip-off. Masks must be worn at all times and temperature checks upon entrance.

 

THE MATCHUP

LYON: The Scots dropped their first game of the season last Thursday at Williams Baptist by a score of 70-65 as Lyon fell to 7-1 overall and in the American Midwest Conference. Paige Kelley recorded her third double-double of the season as she led all scorers with a game-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebound. Jade Giron and Katie Turner also finished in double figures scoring with 19 and 14 points, respectively. For the season, Giron is leading the team in scoring (20.8 points per game) and rebounding (8.5 rebounds per game). Kelley is second in both categories with 17.4 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game.  

 

WBU: Williams Baptist enters Tuesday night's rematch at 10-4 overall and 7-2 in the AMC following a 74-71 victory against William Woods this past Saturday. Taylor Freeman continues to lead the Lady Eagles offensively as she is averaging a team-high 15.9 points per game. Freeman also leads WBU with 50 steals and 44 assists this season. She currently ranks 10th in the NAIA in steals per game (3.6) and 11th in total steals.

 

SERIES HISTORY

The Scots are 29-8 all-time against Williams Baptist following last Thursday's loss in Walnut Ridge, Ark.

 

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS

Following Tuesday's game against WBU, the Scots will continue with their home stand as they will host Hannibal-LaGrange on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
