Louisville, KY - Scots women's basketball season came to a close Tuesday night as the Scots fell 76-67 to Spalding University in the quarterfinal round of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
Lyon faced an early challenge as Spalding built momentum in the opening half, but Lyon kept up the attack scoring 32 points. After trailing at the break, Scots continued to battle through the third and fourth quarter putting up an additional 35 points on the Golden Eagles, but Spalding maintained their lead throughout the night ensuring their win.Â
Kaysharia Woods led all Lyon scorers with 17 points while also dishing out six assists and recording two steals. Natalya Kaza posted a double-double with 14 points and eight rebounds, providing a steady presence in the paint. Alyssa Abascal added 11 points, and Savanna Lopez contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks to round out a balanced offensive effort for the Scots.
Lyon shot 62.5 percent from the field in the fourth quarter, but 37% overall. Scots also were out rebounded 53 to 31 which allowed Spalding to put 16 points off second chances.Â
The team finishes their season with a record 12-14 on the year and 8-8 in the SLIAC conference play.Â
