Box Score BATESVILLE, Ark. - Lyon College 2021-22 volleyball season comes to a close after Columbia College outed the Scots in three sets.
The Scots finish the season with an overall record of 12-18 and 3-7 for conference play. Lyon collected 22 kills with sophomore Natalia Szymanska accounting for eight of them. Columbia College (29-7, 8-1 AMC) will continue to the AMC Semifinals with a total of 45 kills in the match on Tuesday night. Â
"I am extremely proud of the way our team competed tonight," said head coach Dustin Sahlmann. "We knew we had to play a perfect match to upset one of the best teams in the NAIA, and for stretches we were able to do that. We just didn't quite have enough. I am proud of the way we implemented our adjustments tactically and followed the game plan. Congratulations and best of luck to Columbia as they advance to the AMC Semifinals."
Lyon finished the regular season with three back-to-back home games last week on Monday, Friday and Saturday. The Scots pulled off a win against Harris-Stowe with a shutout on Friday. The team racked 33 total kills for the match.Â
