BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College women's basketball team will kick off the fall season with a match against Philander Smith College at home on Wednesday. The last time these teams met on the court, the Scots pulled 18 points ahead of the Panthers to win 80-62. Tonight's matchup will mark the ninth competition since 2016 since last season's meetup was canceled. The Scots have won all eight previous games against the Panthers. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the Becknell Gymnasium on Wednesday.

SCOUTING REPORTS
LYON: The Scots posted a season record of 15-2 only losing one of their 11 conference matches. They reached the finals of the American Midwest Conference Championship losing to Westmont College 60-66. Head Coach Tracy Stewart-Lange enters her 17th year with the Scots with an overall record of 339-161. Under Stewart-Lange's administration, the Scots have been recognized as AMC regular season champions three times and tournament champions twice.
PHILANDER SMITH: Head Coach Brandon Greenwood enters his 16th season with the Panthers. They finished the 2020-21 campaign with a 4-8 overall record. Their record currently stands at 4-0.

After Wednesday's competition, the Scots will have their first game on the road in Holly Springs, Mississippi facing Rust College on Nov. 9.
