BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 18^th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team will return to action with an American Midwest Conference game tomorrow night. The Scots will travel to Williams Baptist on Thursday night. Tip-off for Thursday's game is set for 5:30 p.m.

THE MATCHUP

LYON: The Scots enter the week atop the American Midwest Conference standings at 7-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference. Senior guard Jade Giron was named as the AMC Women's Basketball Player for the first time in her career on Monday after scoring over 20 points in each of the Scots' three games last week. For the season, Giron is currently averaging 21.0 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game, both of which lead the Scots. Giron ranks fifth in the NAIA in assists per game entering Thursday night's game. The Scots continue to receive stellar play out of freshman Paige Kelley this season. Kelley is second on the team in scoring (16.4 PPG) and rebounding (7.9 RPG).

WBU: Williams Baptist enter Thursday night's game with a record of 8-4 overall and 5-2 in the AMC. The Lady Eagles are led offensively by Taylor Freeman and Tasia Bland. Freeman is averaging a team-high 16.8 points per game this season and is coming off back-to-back 20-plus-point performances last week. She scored a season-high 27 points in the Lady Eagles' 88-75 win against Columbia on Jan. 21. Bland is averaging 13.4 points per game and leads the team with 7.9 rebounds per game.

SERIES HISTORY

The Scots are 29-7 all-time against Williams Baptist. Lyon earned a 58-45 win in the last meeting against WBU on Feb. 13, 2020, in Walnut Ridge, Ark. 

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS

Following Thursday's game against Williams Baptist, Lyon and WBU will complete their home-and-home series on Feb. 2 with a 5:30 p.m. contest inside Becknell Gymnasium.
