CONWAY, Ark. – The Lyon College men's basketball team dropped its first American Midwest Conference game of the season on the road at (RV) Central Baptist College by a score of 84-59. Cole Anderson finished with a game-high 18 points, while Dominique Loyd and Chris Craig added 14 and 12, respectively.
CBC improved to 6-3 (2-0 AMC), while the Scots fell to 2-3 (2-1 AMC).
The Scots and Mustangs kept the game close in the first five minutes of the first half as a jumper by Anderson gave Lyon an 8-7 lead. CBC began to take control over the next three minutes as the Mustangs went on an 8-0 run and overtook the lead, 15-8.
A jumper by Hunter Daley ended the Mustangs' run momentarily, but CBC extended its lead to 28-14 with 5:36 left in the first half. The Scots cut the deficit to 11 after a pair of free throws by Chris Craig a minute later, but the Mustangs took a 37-23 lead into halftime.
Three free throws by Anderson brought the Scots within 13 to start the second half, but a 6-0 run by the Mustangs quickly after helped CBC pull away in the second half.
The Scots will close out their four-game road trip with a non-conference game at Bacone College on Thursday night. Tip-off for Thursday's game is set for 7 p.m. Two family members of Lyon College men's basketball players are allowed to attend the game.
