BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 21st ranked Scots travel to Columbia, Mo., for their first road conference games of the 2020 season. They will play a three-game set against the Cougars of Columbia College. The series will consist of a Saturday doubleheader beginning at noon, and a single game on Sunday at noon. The Scots are coming off their second conference series, which resulted in a clean sweep of Hannibal-LaGrange University in a three-game set to advance to 6-0 in conference and 15-4 overall.

THE MATCHUP
The Scots improved to 15-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference this past weekend, completing a three-game sweep of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
The Scots put together a strong weekend offensively, plating 38 runs and hitting .344 as a team. Some notable performances included Jake Michener, who hit .583 with an OBP of .667 at the top of the Scots lineup, Aaron Hurd who hit .333 with a home run and four RBI, Alan West who hit .444 with three RBI, and Cameron Hockle who went 2-for-5 with four RBI on the weekend.
Ten different pitchers toed the rubber for the Scots last weekend, as the staff finished with a 3.60 ERA in the series. Alan West turned in a quality start, allowing only one run and five hits while fanning seven different Trojans through six innings of work to earn the win. Ryan Porras also put up a strong five innings of work in his start, allowing only three runs and striking out six on his way to a win.
Columbia College is currently riding a seven-game winning streak heading into the weekend, including a clean sweep of Williams Baptist University in a three-game conference series last weekend. The Cougars, like the Scots, are still boasting an undefeated record in the AMC.
Dalton Beamer is enjoying a strong season so far, hitting .433 with seven home runs and 19 RBI through his first 60 plate appearances. Kenny Piper has also started hot, hitting .424 with five home runs and slugging .831 so far.
Chris Wall boasts a 5-0 record and 0.32 ERA through his first five starts. He is holding opponents to just a 0.91 batting average and has struck out 57 hitters through 28 innings. Reid Browning has also performed well through his first five starts, holding a 2-1 record with a 2.81 ERA and striking out 37 hitters through 25.2 innings. Connor Darnell has collected two wins and two saves out of the bullpen with a 0.63 ERA.
The Scots are 2-6 all-time against Columbia College, losing two out of three in last season's conference series.
NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
After going on the road to Columbia, the Scots will travel to Henderson, Tenn., for a weekday conference doubleheader against No. 8 Freed-Hardeman University on Tuesday, Mar. 10 starting at 3 p.m. The Lions are undefeated in conference (6-0) and 14-3 overall. They will travel to Hannibal, Mo., to face off against the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans in a three-game set this weekend before facing the Scots.
