BATESVILLE, Ark. – The magic number for the 11th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team won the American Midwest Conference Regular-Season title for the first time since 2015-16 and will enter the conference tournament as the No. 1-seed. The Scots will host No. 8-seed Central Baptist College in the quarterfinals on Thursday night at 7 p.m. inside Becknell Gymnasium.
ADMISSION FOR THE GAME
Admission prices for Thursday's game will be $5 for fans 13-and-older and $2 for fans 12-and-under. Passes will not be accepted for admission into the games throughout the AMC Tournament. Lyon College students can get in free if they scan in with the Lyon App at the door.
THE MATCHUP
LYON: The Scots ended the regular season at 27-2 overall and 23-1 in the AMC. The 27 wins tied the 2012-13 team for the most wins in the regular season, while the 23 conference victories are the most in a season in program history. Madison Riley and Liz Henderson led the Scots offensively throughout the regular season as the duo finished at 14.9 and 14.8 points per game, respectively. Riley scored in double figures 25 times this season and has 96 double figure scoring games in her career. Henderson has scored in double figures 24 times this season and 92 times during her career. Henderson currently ranks ninth in the NAIA in total three-point field goals made (85). Henderson has made 282 three-pointers in her career and needs to make just 10 more to pass Ali Tucker, who made 291 threes in her career from 2015-19. Katie Turner and Jade Giron also finished the regular season averaging double figures in scoring at 11.5 and 10.7 points per game, respectively.
CBC: Central Baptist College finished the regular season at 15-13 overall and 11-13 in the AMC and earned the No. 8-seed for the conference tournament. The Lady Mustangs have been struggling of late, dropping six of its final eight games to end the season. Holly Allen is of four players who averaged double figures in scoring during the regular season at 12.4 points per game. Grace Coates was second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.9 points per game. Kory Westerman and Sierra Carrier averaged 10.1 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY
The Scots are 22-0 all-time against the Lady Mustangs. Lyon earned a 66-51 road victory in the last meeting between the two teams on Feb. 15.
UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
The winner of Thursday's matchup between the Scots and Lady Mustangs will face the winner of (4) William Woods and (5) Williams Baptist on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m., with the higher seed hosting the game.
