No. 11 Women’s Basketball Travels to Missouri for Two Conference Games

The Scots battle Stephens College and (RV) William Woods University this week

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's basketball team is riding a four-game win streak as they get set to play Stephens College on Thursday and (RV) William Woods University on Saturday. The American Midwest Conference matchup between the Scots and Stars will begin on Feb. 6 at 6:00 p.m. in Columbia, Missouri. Saturday's tilt featuring Lyon and WWU will begin at 1:00 p.m.

THE MATCHUP

LYON: The Scots enter this matchup on a four-game win streak after defeating Harris-Stowe State University, 73-50, and Hannibal-LaGrange University, 78-36, this past week. Liz Henderson and Madison Riley each scored 15 points against HSSU, while Marleigh Dodson finished with a near double-double as she recorded 8 points and 8 rebounds in the contest. In Lyon's victory over the Trojans on Saturday, Marleigh Dodson and Alexis Moore paced the Scots with 13 points apiece, while Madison Riley dished out 7 assists in the contest.

STEPHENS: Stephens College's lone conference victory came against St. Louis College of Pharmacy back on Dec. 3, 70-61. Makenzie Jemes does it all for the Stars as she leads her team in scoring (11.3 ppg) rebounding (8.4 rpg), and assists (3.1 apg).   

WWU: William Woods University is playing their best basketball of the season, rattling off ten consecutive wins as they enter this week at 18-4 overall and 12-4 in conference play. Kaycee Gerald paces the Owls in scoring (16.7 ppg), rebounding (7.7 rpg), assists (4.6 apg), and steals (4.2 spg). Peyton Greenlee has also put together a strong senior season, tallying 14.6 points per contest.

SERIES HISTORY

The Scots hold an unblemished 13-0 record all-time against the Stars after dominating Stephens College, 104-59, on Dec. 19 inside Becknell Gymnasium.

The Scots are 13-2 all-time against the Owls after defeating William Woods University, 53-34, on Dec. 21 inside Becknell Gymnasium.

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS

Following Saturday's game against WWU, the Scots will travel to in-state rivals – Williams Baptist University and Central Baptist College – on Feb. 13 and Feb. 15. The Scots will battle WBU on Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. The game between the Scots and CBC will begin on Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m.
