CONWAY, Ark. – The Lyon College softball team earned a pair of victories Friday afternoon. Lyon defeated Goshen College, 7-2, and No. 21 LSU-Alexandria, 11-0.
Lyon moves to 9-1 on the season. Goshen College goes to 2-4, while No. 21 LSU-Alexandria falls to 3-4.
Game One: Lyon 7, Goshen 2
The Scots wasted no time in this one as
Megan Micke and
Addison Harmon each reached base on a single and walk, respectively.
Kassidy Robinson, then, stepped up to the plate and crushed a 3-run home run, giving Lyon an early 3-0 advantage.
Goshen scored a run in the bottom of the first inning on a misplayed grounder, trimming the Maple Leaf's deficit to two.
The score remained 3-1 in favor of Lyon until the top of the fifth inning.
Addison Harmon and
Kassidy Robinson each reached base on bunt base hits. With one out in the inning,
Madison Sansom delivered an RBI single, scoring Harmon and giving Lyon a 4-1 lead.
The Maple Leafs scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Ri Koteles RBI single. This brought Lyon's lead back to two with one inning to play.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Scots pushed across some insurance runs as
Mikayla Mullen hit a 2-out 3-run home run over the fence, giving Lyon a 7-2 lead.
Katelyn Platt was dominant in the circle as she got Edith Vega to groundout to end the game, earning Lyon a 7-2 victory over Goshen College. Platt picked up the complete game victory, while striking out four in the contest.
Kassidy Robinson led the way for the Scots offensively as she went 3-for-3 with a pair of singles and a home run. Robinson also tallied three RBI's and two runs scored in the contest.
Game Two: Lyon 11, No. 21 LSU-Alexandria 0 (5 Inn.)
In the top of the first inning,
Riley Shaw hit a 2-RBI double, scoring
Megan Micke and
Addison Harmon and giving the Scots an early 2-0 lead.
The Scots tacked on another run in the top of the second inning as
Addison Harmon delivered an RBI single up the middle, scoring
Siobhan Taylor and extending Lyon's lead to three.
In the top of the fourth inning,
Siobhan Taylor,
Megan Micke, and
Addison Harmon loaded the bases with no outs in the frame.
Kassidy Robinson, then, delivered a 2-RBI double, plating Taylor and Micke. Following a walk to
Riley Shaw,
Cheyenne Herrera was hit by a pitch, scoring Harmon from third.
Kassidy Robinson and
Riley Shaw came around to score later in the inning to give Lyon an 8-0 advantage.
In the top of the fifth inning,
Megan Micke launched a 2-run home run, scoring Siobhan Talyor. The Scots tacked on another run on a
Cheyenne Herrera RBI single, giving Lyon an 11-0 lead.
Shyanne Pedroza was masterful in the circle as she only allowed one hit over five innings, en route to earning Lyon an 11-0 victory over No. 21 LSU-Alexandria. Pedroza picked up the complete game shutout, while striking out one. Lyon was led offensively by a trio of Scots as
Megan Micke,
Addison Harmon, and
Riley Shaw combined to go 8-for-10 with two doubles, one home run, five RBI's, and six runs scored in the contest.
