No. 21 Scots Open Conference Play this Weekend

The 21st-ranked Lyon College baseball team will open up American Midwest Conference play at home this weekend against Harris-Stowe

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 21st-ranked Lyon College baseball team will open up American Midwest Conference play this weekend, when the Scots host Harris-Stowe in a three-game series at Fred Wann Field. The Scots and Hornets will open up their series with a single game on Friday at 1 p.m., with the series-finale doubleheader set to take place on Saturday beginning at noon.

THE MATCHUP

The Scots fell to 8-3 on the season after dropping three games in a four-game series at home to No. 12 LSU-Shreveport this past weekend.

Kylan Barnett enters this weekend's series as the top hitter in the Scots' lineup. Through the first 11 games of the season, Barnett is hitting .432 (16-for-37). Barnett has hit four doubles, one triple and two home runs on the season. He is tied with Alan West for the team lead with 12 RBI each. He has also scored 10 times. Jake Michener leads the team with 15 runs scored this season.

The Scots will likely start Marcelo Terrazas, Ryan Porras and Alan West on the mound against the Hornets. Terrazas is 1-0 on the year and has struck out seven batters in 9.1 innings pitched. Porras is 2-1 on the season with a 2.37 ERA. He has struck out 22 batters in 19 innings pitched. West is 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA. West has struck out a team-high 26 batters in 18 innings pitched.

Harris-Stowe enters this weekend's series at 9-9 on the year after going 1-2 at the Rube Foster Classic last weekend.

Davie Pound is the top hitter in the Hornets' lineup this season. Pound is batting .448 (26-for-58), with seven doubles and four home runs. He has driven in 20 runs and has scored 21 times. Matt Janocik leads the team with six home runs and 26 RBI.

Tyler Cox, Arcentae Stone and Dajuan Griffin will likely start on the mound for HSSU this weekend. Cox is 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA. In 22.2 innings pitched, Cox has struck out 17 batters. Stone is 3-0 with a 3.86 ERA. Stone has struck out a team-high 26 batters in 18.2 innings pitched. Griffin is 2-1 with a 3.91 ERA. Opponents are hitting .221 against Griffin this season.

NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following this weekend's series against HSSU, the Scots will play their first two road games of the season on Tuesday in a doubleheader at Blue Mountain College. First pitch is set for noon.
