BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 21st-ranked Lyon College baseball team held on for an 8-6 victory at home against Texas A&M-Texarkana earlier this week on Tuesday as the Scots will now prepare to face their second top-25 opponent of the season this weekend in No. 12 LSU-Shreveport. The Scots and Pilots will play a pair of doubleheaders this Saturday and Sunday at Fred Wann Field with each twin bill beginning at noon. The series was originally scheduled to be played on Friday and Saturday but has been pushed back a day.

THE MATCHUP
The Scots improved to 7-0 on the year with their win against TAMUT and are off to the best start to a season since 2007, when the team won its first 18 contests.
Jake Michener and Kylan Barnett led the charge for the Scots against the Eagles as the 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup both finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate. Michener had a pair of doubles and scored four times, while Barnett drove in four runs in the game. Barnett and Michener lead the team in hitting at .478 and .476, respectively.
Ryan Porras leads the Scots' pitching staff as he is 2-0 on the season with a 0.64 ERA. In 14 innings pitched, Porras has allowed just one run on eight hits while striking out 19 batters. Opponents are hitting .170 off the lefty.
LSUS enters this weekend's top-25 matchup at 7-0 on the year after sweeping a four-game series against Cumberland last weekend at the Sterlington Sports Complex in Sterlington, La.
Bakari Gayle and Kody Kolb are both hitting .500 or better for the Pilots entering this weekend's series. Gayle is hitting .533 (8-for-15), with one double, one home run, seven RBI and six runs scored. Kolb is hitting an even .500 (9-for-18), with two doubles, one home run, five RBI and nine runs scored.
Andrew Lowe, Victor Silverio and Luisdiego Quintana all enter the weekend with a 2-0 record on the mound for the Pilots. Lowe has now allowed an earned run this season and scattered just four hits over 9.1 innings pitched. Silverio has a 2.08 ERA and has struck out a team-high 18 batters in 8.2 innings of work. Quintana has a 3.52 ERA and has struck out 12 batters in 7.2 innings pitched.
The Scots are 11-6 all-time against the Pilots. Lyon swept a home doubleheader last season on Mar. 26 against LSUS by scores of 8-7 and 19-7.
NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following this weekend's series against No. 12 LSUS, the Scots will host Bethel (Tenn.) for a midweek non-conference game on Tuesday at noon.
