No. 11 Scots Travel to WBU, CBC

The Scots will play at Williams Baptist and Central Baptist College this weekend

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's basketball team looks to remain atop the American Midwest Conference standings as the Scots prepare for two conference games this weekend. Lyon will travel to Williams Baptist on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and wrap up the week on Saturday at Central Baptist College on Saturday at 1 p.m.

THE MATCHUP

LYON: The Scots enter the week at 21-2 overall at 17-1 in the AMC. The Scots currently hold the top spot in the AMC standings by 1.5 games over No. 12 Freed-Hardeman. Seniors, Madison Riley and Liz Henderson, enter the week with 98 career wins and need two more victories to reach the 100-win mark. Four Scots are averaging double figures in scoring this season, led by Riley's team-high 15.7 points per game. Henderson is second on the team at 14.1 points per game, followed by Katie Turner (11.8 PPG) and Jade Giron (10.3 PPG).

WBU: Williams Baptist enters Thursday night's matchup at 16-6 overall and 12-5 in the AMC. The Lady Eagles are currently in fifth place in the conference standings. Taylor Freeman leads a trio of Lady Eagles averaging double figures in scoring at an even 14.0 points per game. Tia Brazell is second on the team, averaging 12.2 points per game, followed by Tasia Bland, who is averaging 11.4 points per game.

CBC: Central Baptist College enters the week at 14-8 overall and 10-8 in the AMC. The Lady Mustangs are currently tied for seventh in the AMC standings. Four players are averaging double figures in scoring for CBC, led by Holly Allen's team-high 13.5 points per game. Grace Coates is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.0 points per game, followed by Sierra Carrier (10.3 PPG) and Kory Westerman (10.2 PPG).

SERIES HISTORY

The Scots are 28-7 all-time against WBU and 21-0 all-time against CBC. The Scots defeated both WBU and CBC at home earlier this season. Lyon earned a 66-51 win on Dec. 3 against WBU and a 76-47 win on Jan. 4 against CBC.

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS

Following Saturday's game at CBC, the Scots will return home for a key top-25 matchup against No. 12 Freed-Hardeman. The Scots and Lady Lions will square off on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. in Becknell Gymnasium.
