No. 21 Baseball Set to Host TAMUT Tuesday

The 21st-ranked Lyon College baseball team will host Texas A&M-Texarkana on Tuesday afternoon

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 21st-ranked Lyon College baseball team earned is second consecutive series sweep to begin the year this past weekend against the University of St. Francis (Ill.). The Scots are 6-0 for the first time to begin a season since 2008. The Scots will look to keep their winning streak alive on Tuesday when they host Texas A&M-Texarkana at 2 p.m. at Fred Wann Field.

THE MATCHUP

Alan West was a key cog in helping the Scots to their second series sweep of the season this past weekend. West led Lyon with seven RBI in the three-game set. West's two-run home run in game one proved to be the difference in a 2-1 victory for the Scots. He also had two RBI in a 4-1 victory in game two. West followed with his best game of the series in game three, where he finished 3-for-4 at the plate, with three RBI. West also picked up his first win of the season on the mound as he allowed three runs (two earned) one five hits while striking out nine over five innings.

TAMUT enters Tuesday's matinee at 6-2 on the season after sweeping a four-game series against Friends University this past weekend.

Jaylan Prince and Chris Mcginty are the two players to watch in the Eagles' lineup. Prince leads the team with a .579 batting average. Prince is 11-for-19 on the season, with a pair of doubles. His 11 hits and seven RBI lead the team. Mcginty is 10-for-20 on the season, with a pair of doubles. He has driven in five runs and scored four times.

Cole Connolly leads the Eagles' pitching staff. Connolly is 2-0 on the season with a 0.64 ERA. In 14 innings pitched, Connolly has struck out nine batters.

The Scots are 0-2 all-time against TAMUT. The two teams first met in a two-game series last season on Mar. 19 in Batesville. TAMUT swept the doubleheader by scores of 5-0 and 7-4.

NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following Tuesday's matinee against TAMUT, the Scots will prepare to host No. 12 LSU-Shreveport in a four-game series this Friday and Saturday at Fred Wann Field. The Scots and Pilots will open up the series on Friday at noon.
