BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's basketball team pulled off its biggest win of the season on Saturday afternoon, upsetting No. 18 Central Baptist College, 65-61, inside Becknell Gymnasium. The victory over CBC marked the 100th-career win for Lyon College men's basketball Head Coach Chad Tapp with the program.

Lyon improved to 10-4 (6-1 American Midwest Conference), while CBC fell to 9-3 (6-1 AMC). The two teams are now tied for first place in the AMC standings.

The Scots weathered an early storm by the Mustangs as CBC jumped out to a 16-7 lead nine minutes into the contest on a layup by Quentre Roberts. Both teams went scoreless over the next three minutes until Ray Price broke that stretch with a three-pointer.

Cole Anderson followed with a bucket on a feed from Price before the sophomore guard from Bartlett, Tenn., single-handedly shifted the momentum in the Scots' favor. Price accounted for 16 of the next 18 points of the game for the Scots and shot 6-for-6 from the field during that stretch to give Lyon a 30-22 lead with 1:18 left in the first half.

Sam Chumley followed with a three-pointer of his own on an assist by Price before Hunter Daley knocked down three straight free throws with one second left on the clock to give the Scots a 36-22 lead at the half.

The Scots extended their lead to 16 points five minutes into the first half and continued to hold a lead over the Mustangs until the final two minutes of the contest. CBC worked its way back into the game and took a 60-59 lead with 1:50 remaining on a layup by Tyrone Alston.

Winston Peace came up clutch for the Scots in the final minute of the game from the charity stripe as the freshman knocked down 5-of-6 free throws to put Lyon ahead, 64-61. Anderson added another free throw with two seconds remaining as the Scots completed the upset victory.

Price finished with a game-high 23 points to lead the Scots, while Anderson and Daley also finished in double-digits scoring with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

The Scots will take to the road for their next game and travel to Freed-Hardeman for another American Midwest Conference game on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
