HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lyon College men's basketball team trailed by four points early in the second half but Freed-Hardeman used an 8-0 run to pull away from the Scots and earned a 78-62 win in American Midwest Conference action on Tuesday night.

 FHU improved to 9-3 (6-1 AMC) with the win, while the Scots fell to 10-5 (6-2 AMC).

A bucket by Hunter Daley pulled the Scots within four, 37-33, in the opening minute of the second half but the Lions began to pull away following a pair of free throws by Hunter Scurlock.

With the score at 46-38 in favor of FHU, the Lions used the 8-0 run to extend their lead to double-digits. The Scots pulled back within 14 points twice down the stretch on a bucket by Daley and another by Cole Anderson, but that would be as close as the Scots would get the rest of the way.

The two teams opened up the game in a see-saw battle as neither team led by more than four points nine minutes in until Konstantin Dotsenko knocked down a jumper to give FHU a 19-13 lead at the 11:04 mark in the first half.

FHU extended its lead to seven before the Scots rallied back to tie the game at 29-29 on a bucket by Faris Verlasevic. The Lions closed the half on an 8-2 run to take a 37-31 lead at the break.

Daley led the Scots with 18 points, while Winston Peace and Anderson chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The Scots will return home to host Park in another AMC matchup on Saturday at 3 p.m. Saturday's contest against Park will be promoted as 'We Back Pat – Alzheimer's Awareness.'
