Scots Fall to Bethel University in Home Opener

Lyon Volleyball Defeated by Bethel University in Straight Sets

BATESVILLE, Ark. – Lyon College took the court tonight looking to extend their four-match win streak. However, Bethel University had different ideas as the Lady Wildcats defeated the Scots in straight sets.

Lyon is now 4-4 on the season, while Bethel University improves to 3-7.

GAME FLOW
The Lady Wildcats roared out of the gates to take an early 11-4 advantage. While the Scots tried to cut into the deficit throughout the first stanza, the visitors from Tennessee were too much, winning the first set by a score of 25-13.

Bethel University started the second frame just like the first, quickly garnering a 6-0 lead. Lyon cut the deficit to just four points following one of Maria Eleni Bampiri's four blocks in the contest. However, the Lady Wildcats would quickly extend their advantage and take the second set, 25-18.

The third set was the most competitive of the night. The Scots had it going early as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Bethel University would quickly respond, though, retaking the lead at 5-4. The Scots knotted it up at 11 after a Michayla Shanks kill, assisted by Maggee Hobson. However, the Lady Wildcats rattled off three consecutive points to regain the lead. BU would never relinquish its lead, taking the third set by a score of 25-18 and winning the match in straight sets.
