BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's soccer team used three first-half goals to pick up a 3-2 victory over Central Baptist College on Tuesday.
Lyon moves to 4-4 overall, 1-2 in the AMC, while Central Baptist College falls to 1-8 overall, 1-2 in the AMC.

Lyon wasted no time in this one as
Alexandria Denton found
Hailey Gonzales in the middle of the pitch. Gonzales delivered a nice pass to
Tabetha Troxler. Troxler struck a shot from just outside the box over the outstretched arms of the CBC keeper and into the back of the net, giving the Scots a 1-0 lead. In the 22
nd minute,
Tabetha Troxler laid a pass back to
Hailey Gonzales. Gonzales rocketed a shot from well outside the box that ricocheted off the post and into the back of the net, doubling Lyon's advantage. In the 35
th minute,
Alexandria Denton played a nice through ball to
Tabetha Troxler. Troxler took one touch and struck a shot into the back of the net, giving Lyon a 3-0 lead. The Mustangs would get on the board off a goal by Mallory Howard in the 37
th minute.
The score would remain 3-1 in favor of the Scots for the majority of the second half. In the 84
th minute, CBC's Bayleigh Williams took a throw in and found a cutting Mallory Howard in the middle of the box. Howard poked the ball into the back of the net, cutting Lyon's lead to just one. Lyon's defense would hold off the final push from the Mustangs and defeated CBC by a score of 3-2.
