BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College volleyball team took the court tonight for their final non-conference match before conference play begins as the Scots battled Crowley's Ridge College inside Becknell Gymnasium tonight. Lyon College overpowered the Lady Pioneers in this matchup as the Scots dominated CRC in straight sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-17).
Lyon improves to 8-5 on the season, while Crowley's Ridge College falls to 1-9.
GAME FLOW
The Scots battled some adversity early in the first set, but would get on a roll toward the middle of the frame. With the score at 15-7 in Crowley's Ridge College's favor, Lyon College found its groove. The Scots rattled off 13 consecutive points to take a 20-15 advantage. Lyon would close out the set on a
Michayla Shanks's kill, assisted by
Ellie Embry.
In the second stanza, the Scots used another run to stretch its lead. With Lyon leading the second set, 17-13, the Scots connected on five straight points to extend their lead to nine points. Lyon would take the second set by a score of 25-17.
In the third set, the Scots roared out to an early 5-0 advantage. CRC would win the next two points, but Lyon would fight back as the Scots rattled off their fourth consecutive point on a block by
Maria Eleni Bampiri and
Maggee Hobson. Lyon would push their lead to nine points before closing out the match on a kill by
Michaela Shott, assisted by
Kendra Davidson.

WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE SCOTS
Lyon begins conference play at home against St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Lindenwood University-Belleville on Sept. 20-21. The Scots will square off against STLCOP on Friday at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, Lyon will battle LUB at 1:00 p.m. on Sept. 21.
