CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – University of the Ozarks used two first-half goals and three second-half goals to defeat the Scots by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday.
Lyon is now 3-2 on the season, while University of the Ozarks improves to 2-1-2 on the year.
GAME FLOW
The Eagles got on the scoreboard first in this one. In the 17
th minute, Madison Chaney delivered a nice pass to Gisselle Estrada who struck a shot into the back of the net. University of the Ozarks doubled their advantage with a goal from Rebecca Peterson in the 30
th minute. The Scots were unable to create many opportunities in the first half and trailed 2-0 as the halftime whistle sounded.
The Scots would generate more opportunities in the second half as they took nine shots in the final 45 minutes as compared to just one in the first half. It was the Eagles, though, who capitalized off their chances with a pair of goals in the 58
th and 59
th minute. Hannah Smith would tack on her second goal of the evening for the Eagles in the 82
nd minute, giving University of the Ozarks a 5-0 lead. The Scots would score a goal of their own in the 89
th minute.
Alexandria Denton played a nice ball to
Tabetha Troxler who struck a shot past the outstretched arms of the goalie. Time would run out on Lyon, though, as the Eagles defeated the Scots, 5-1, on Wednesday evening.
