LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Lyon College volleyball team made quick work of their two opponents this afternoon as the Scots earned a pair of victories. The first win came over Rust College in three sets, while the Lyon College volleyball team extended their win streak to four consecutive matches after defeating Philander Smith College in four sets.
Lyon jumps to 4-3 on the season. Rust College drops to 0-1, while Philander Smith College falls to 2-2.
GAME FLOW
Rust College
The Scots were clicking on all cylinders to open the match as Lyon quickly jumped out to an 11-2 advantage. The Scots would continue their dominating performance to take the first set by a score of 25-5.
The second set was very similar to the first, with the visitors from Batesville jetting out to an early 10-3 lead. Rust College tried to cut into the deficit, but the Scots were up to the task, winning the second set by a score of 25-14.
The third stanza was the most competitive set of the contest as it featured 13 ties and eight lead changes. With the score tied at 18 apiece,
Maria Eleni Bampiri finished off a set by
Elizabeth Bairett to give the Scots a one-point advantage. Lyon would never relinquish the lead, en route to a final set victory, 25-22, and winning the match, 3-0.
Philander Smith College
After dropping the first set, the Scots took a five-point lead midway through the second set, 14-9. The Panthers cut the deficit to just two points on two separate occasions, but Lyon never let it get closer than that as
Gracen Ratliff closed out the second set with one of her 14 kills in the contest.
With the score tied, 1-1, the visitors from Batesville kept attacking PSC. Lyon used 15 kills in the third stanza to take the second set by a score of 25-21.
Levia Taegtmeyer clinched the third-set victory for the Scots with one of her five kills, assisted by
Ellie Embry.
The Scots entered the fourth set looking to finish off the Panthers. Lyon continued their powerful hitting by accumulating 21 kills and 19 assists in the set, en route to a 25-12 fourth-set win and extending the Scots' win streak to four matches.

Gracen Ratliff registered double digit kills as they accumulated 16 and 14 kills, respectively.
- The Scots produced 25 more kills and 23 more assists than PSC.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE SCOTS
Lyon returns to Batesville for their home opener against Bethel University. The Scots will battle the Lady Wildcats on Sep. 3 at 7:00 p.m. inside Becknell Gymnasium.
