CANTON, Mo. – The Lyon College men's soccer team used a first-half goal and two second-half goals to defeat the Lincoln College Lynx on Friday.
Lyon improves to 2-2 overall, while Lincoln College falls to 1-1-1 on the year.
GAME FLOW
The match remained scoreless until midway through the first half. In the 27
th minute,
Nate Ayalew made a great pass to
Eleodoro Martinez. Martinez beat the keeper, finding the back of the net and giving the Scots a 1-0 lead as the halftime whistle sounded.
The Scots wasted no time in the second half as
Marcos Fernandez took a corner in the 49
th minute. Fernandez delivered a great ball into the box.
Nathan Wilson got on the end of it and headed it in, doubling Lyon's advantage. The Scots were not done there, however. In the 73
rd minute,
Emanuel Santos slid a through ball past the defense and found a sprinting
Nate Ayalew. Ayalew took the pass and beat the goalie, making the score 3-0 in favor of the Scots.
Vicente Alamos and the defense of Lyon was masterful all game, shutting the Lynx out and earning the Scots a 3-0 victory on Friday.
