WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. The third-seeded Lyon College baseball team got off to a fast start in its first game of the Williamsburg Bracket in the NAIA Baseball Opening Round as the Scots put up three runs on the No. 2-seed Indiana Tech Warriors in the first inning. Indiana Tech limited the Scots to just four hits the rest of the way as the Warriors picked up an 8-3 victory over Lyon on Monday afternoon.

The Scots fell to 38-21 on the season and will face No. 5-seed Baker in the first elimination game of the Williamsburg Bracket at 11 a.m. (CDT) on Tuesday. Indiana Tech improved to 39-14-1 and will face the winner of No. 1-seed Cumberlands and No. 4-seed Mobile on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. (CDT).

Lyon gained some early momentum on Indiana Tech with a two-out rally in the top of the first inning. With a runner aboard, Troy Strack singled to left to give the Scots a 1-0 advantage. Kyle West got hit by a pitch before Tristan Buschow reached first safely with a bunt single to load the bases for Zane Pritchard. Pritchard extended the Scots' lead to 3-0 with a single to shallow right-center field to plate Strack and West.

The score remained the same until the Warriors overtook the lead with a pair of two-run innings in the fourth and fifth frame. The Warriors added to their lead with three more runs in the bottom of the seventh and one more in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Jake DeFries.

Marcelo Terrazas suffered the loss of the mound for the Scots as he allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits over six innings pitched.

Jake Michener led the Scots offensively as he went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.
