BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College baseball team earned a spot in the NAIA Division I Baseball National Championship opening round for the third-straight year and the fourth time in the last five years as the Scots earned a berth in the Williamsburg Bracket this season as the No. 3-seed. The double-elimination, Williamsburg Bracket, will take place from May 13-16 in Williamsburg, Ky. The Scots will begin their quest for the program's first appearance in the Avista-NAIA World Series when they take on No. 2-seed Indiana Tech on Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. (CDT).

THE MATCHUP
The Scots enter the Williamsburg Bracket with a 38-20 record on the season after falling to Missouri Baptist in the third day of the American Midwest Conference Tournament by a score of 9-2.
Alan West enters the Opening Round with the top batting average on the team for the Scots at .429 (72-for-168). For the season, West has hit 16 doubles and three home runs to go along with 39 RBI and 36 runs scored.
Kylan Barnett is another strong bat in the Scots' lineup. Barnett is batting .369 (75-for-203), with 18 doubles, five triples and six home runs to go along with 56 RBI and 60 runs scored.
Mack Larson enters this week with the best record on the Scots' pitching staff at 8-3 to go along with a 5.42 ERA. Larson has struck out a team-high 77 batters in 78 innings pitched.
Marcelo Terrazas leads the team in innings pitched this season (95) and sports a record of 6-5 to go along with a 3.41 ERA.
Indiana Tech sports a record of 38-14-1 and is coming off an 8-3 victory over Madonna in the championship game of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. The Warriors played two teams that were also on the schedule for the Scots this season. Indiana Tech took two games out of a three-game series to open up the season against Freed-Hardeman, and earned one win in a three-game set at Georgia Gwinnett College.
Glen McClain is the top hitter in the Warriors' lineup. McClain is batting a team-high .439 (79-for-180), with 17 doubles, one triple and 16 home runs to go along with 52 RBI and 39 runs scored. McClain ranks seventh in the NAIA in batting average and slugging percentage (.811) and 10th in total bases (146).
The Warriors will likely throw Charles Dunavan against the Scots on Monday. Dunavan is 8-1 on the year with a 2.41 ERA. In 67.1 innings pitched, Dunavan has struck out a team-high 85 batters. Dunavan has thrown two complete games and two shutouts.
This will be the first meeting between the Scots and Warriors in the history of the two programs.
NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
The winner of Monday's game against Indiana Tech and Lyon will take on the winner between Cumberlands and Mobile/Baker at 2:30 p.m. (CDT) on Tuesday, while the loser will take on the loser of the Mobile/Baker game at 11 a.m. (CDT) on Tuesday in an elimination game.
