BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 17th-ranked Lyon College baseball team will return home this weekend and host Park in a three-game American Midwest Conference series at Scots Field. The Scots and Pirates will open up the series with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at noon. The series finale will take place on Saturday with a single nine-inning game at noon.

THE MATCHUP
Lyon fell to 27-12 overall and 12-6 in the AMC after dropping a conference road game at No. 6 Freed-Hardeman on Tuesday by a score of 10-8.

The No. 1-5 hitters in the Scots lineup recorded at least two hits each at Freed-Hardeman, led by
Jake Michener and
Kylan Barnett, who collected three hits each. Michener went 3-for-6 with one RBI and three runs scored. Barnett went 3-for-5 at the plate with three RBI, one run scored and one home run.
Troy Strack,
Kyle West and
Tristan Buschow all finished with two hits each for the Scots.

Marcelo Terrazas and
Mack Larson are tied for the team lead with five wins this season. Terrazas is 5-3 with a 2.74 ERA in 65.2 innings pitched. Larson is 5-2 with a 5.20 ERA in 55.1 innings pitched.

Ethan Denney leads the Scots with five saves this season. His five saves are tied for the fourth-most in a single season in Lyon College baseball history. Nick Salahub (2008) and J.T. Baker (1998), currently hold the record with seven saves in a single season.

Park enters this weekend's series at 15-10 overall and 9-9 in the AMC after defeating William Woods, 2-0, in a conference road game earlier this week.

Wes Jacobs is the player to watch in the Pirates' lineup this season. Jacobs is 35-for-92, with six doubles, two triples, three home runs, 12 RBI and 25 runs scored. Jacobs leads the Pirates in several offensive categories including batting average (.380), hits and runs. Bryce Dye leads Park with five home runs and 22 RBI this season.

The Pirates are likely to go with Ian Torres, Jackson Longhofer and Vincent Phillips on the mound this weekend. Torres is 3-2 with a 2.70 ERA in 30 innings pitched. Longhofer is 3-2 with a 4.09 ERA in 33 innings pitched. Phillips is 3-2 with a 6.30 ERA in 20 innings pitched.
