BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 15th-ranked Lyon College baseball team will conclude the 2019 regular season this weekend in a pivotal three-game American Midwest Conference series against Columbia College. The Scots and Cougars both have clinched a spot in next week's AMC Tournament, but the outcome of this weekend's series will have a significant impact on where the teams will be seeded. Columbia (18-8 AMC) currently sits at No. 2 in the conference and is a half-game ahead of Lyon (18-9 AMC) and Missouri Baptist (18-9 AMC), who are tied for third.

SENIOR DAY RECOGNITION
The Lyon College baseball team will honor five players as part of the Senior Day ceremony prior to the first pitch on Saturday. The Senior Day recognition is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.

Kyle West,
Brandon Giribaldie,
Tacker Colbert and
Riley Caraway will all be honored for their contributions to the baseball program.

The Lyon College International Student Association will be hosting a Grilling for the Home Team event during Saturday's game. They will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs that will be available at no cost.

2018 AMC CHAMPIONSHIP RING CEREMONY
Upon the conclusion of Saturday's contest against the Cougars, the Scots will host a Ring Ceremony to honor the 2018 baseball team on winning the program's first-ever American Midwest Conference Regular-Season Championship last season. All alumni and community members are welcome to attend.

THE MATCHUP
The Scots opened up their final home stand of the season on Tuesday with a 14-4 non-conference win against College of the Ozarks. With the win, Lyon improved to 36-16 on the year.

Troy Strack enters this weekend's series leading the NAIA in total assists this season (136) and is 15th in assists per game (2.7).
Alan West is batting a team-high .444 (63-for-142) this season, which leads the AMC and ranks fourth in the NAIA.
Kylan Barnett leads the AMC with 67 total hits this season, and ranks 11th in the NAIA in triples (5) and 12th in total putouts (320).

This weekend's probable starters on the mound for the Scots will be
Marcelo Terrazas,
Mack Larson and
Ryan Porras. Terrazas sports a record of 6-4 on the bump with a 2.94 ERA. Terrazas ranks ninth in the NAIA in walks allowed per 9 innings (1.24) and is 16th in the NAIA in total innings pitched (79.2). Opponents are batting .209 off Terrazas this season. Larson is 7-3 on the season with a 4.35 ERA. His seven wins lead the team and are tied for fourth in the AMC. Porras enters the weekend at 5-3 on the season with a 4.29 ERA. In 63 innings pitched, Porras has struck out a team-high 65 batters. Porras has three games this season of 10-or-more strikeouts.

Columbia College swept a three-game American Midwest Conference series against Williams Baptist last weekend. The Cougars won by scores of 2-0, 6-5 and 11-3. CC enters this weekend's series at 23-18 overall.

Chase Urhahn is the player to watch in the Cougars' lineup. Urhahn is batting a team-high .401 (55-for-137) this season, with 18 doubles, eight home runs 37 RBI and 41 runs scored. Urhahn is 10th in the NAIA in doubles per game (0.44) and 13th in total doubles.

The Cougars will likely start Chris Wall, Jacob Ford and Reid Browning on the mound this weekend. Wall is 5-4 with a 3.29 ERA. He has struck out a team-high 78 batters in 65.2 innings pitched. Browning is 3-1 with a 2.97 ERA, while Ford enters the weekend at 2-5 on the year with a 6.49 ERA.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Scots are 1-4 all-time against the Cougars. Lyon and CC split a doubleheader last season on Mar. 18, in Columbia, Mo. CC earned a 6-5 win in the first game, before the Scots took game two, 11-7.

Following this weekend's series against Columbia College, the Scots will head to Joplin, Mo., for the AMC Tournament. The AMC Tournament will take place on May 1-4, and will once again be held at the historic Joe Becker Stadium.
