BATESVILLE, Ark. – With just seven games remaining in its 2019 regular season, the 15th-ranked Lyon College baseball team will prepare for its final road series this weekend. The Scots will travel to O'Fallon, Mo., and face Harris-Stowe in a three-game American Midwest Conference series at CarShield Field this Friday and Saturday. The two teams will play a single nine-inning game on Friday at 2 p.m. The series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m.

THE MATCHUP
Lyon split a midweek doubleheader at Blue Mountain College on Tuesday and moved to 34-14 on the year. The Scots dropped game one at BMC by a score of 3-2 before they picked up a 6-0 win behind a complete game, three-hit shutout by
Tanner Johnson.

Alan West, the reigning AMC Player of the Week, continues to lead the Scots offensively this season. West is batting a team-high .446 this season. In 130 at-bats, West has collected 58 hits, including 11 doubles and three home runs. He has knocked in 31 runs and scored 32 of his own. West leads the AMC in batting average and ranks eighth in the NAIA in the category.
Kylan Barnett currents leads the AMC with 63 hits this season.

Kyle West recently moved into a tie for third on the all-time career hits list at Lyon College. West has collected 230 hits in his career and is tied with Kris Kohlstedt (2013-16). West is two hits shy of moving into second on the all-time list and passing Sam Cooke, who had 231 hits during his career from 2003-06.

The Scots will likely start
Marcelo Terrazas,
Mack Larson and
Ryan Porras on the bump this weekend. Terrazas enters the weekend at 6-4 with a 2.70 ERA. Opponents are batting .207 off Terrazas in 76.2 innings pitched. Terrazas currently leads the AMC in innings pitched and ranks seventh in the NAIA in the category. Larson is 7-2 this season with a 5.35 ERA. In 67.1 innings pitched, Larson has struck out a team-high 61 batters. Larson's seven wins are a team-high and are tied for second in the AMC. Porras enters the weekend at 5-2 on the bump with a 4.25 ERA. This season, Porras has struck out 55 batters in 55 innings pitched.

Harris-Stowe earned a 2-1 AMC series victory over Park the last time the Hornets took the field on Apr. 12-13. The Hornets enter this weekend's series sporting a record of 18-23 overall and an 11-12 mark in the AMC.

Chase Goldwater, Deshawn Cole and Cole Danielson lead the Hornets offensively and have very similar numbers this season. Goldwater is batting a team-high 3.53, while Cole and Danielson are just behind him at .352 and .351, respectively. Danielson is currently tied for second in the AMC with 17 doubles this season.

The probable starters for the Hornets on the mound this weekend are Tyler Cox, Stephens Wells and Dajuan Griffin. Cox enters the weekend at 4-2 with a 3.64 ERA and one save. Cox has thrown two complete-game shutouts this season. Wells sports a record of 5-6 on the bump with an ERA of 3.89. In 74 innings pitched, Wells has struck out 70 batters. Griffin is 2-3 with a 4.78 ERA.
