No. 17 Baseball Continues Road Trip at Blue Mountain

Lyon College baseball will continue its eight-game road trip with a doubleheader at Blue Mountain College on Tuesday

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 17th-ranked Lyon College baseball team took two games out of a three-game series at Hannibal-LaGrange this past weekend, as the Scots will continue their eight-game road trip with a doubleheader at Blue Mountain College on Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday's doubleheader is set to begin at noon in Blue Mountain, Miss.

THE MATCHUP
Lyon College took the final two games of a three-game set at Hannibal-LaGrange this past weekend and improved to 33-13 on the year. The Scots won by scores of 29-9 and 12-4 over the Trojans.
 
Alan West earned his second American Midwest Conference Baseball Player of the Week honor after helping the Scots to a 3-1 record last week. West led the team with a .667 batting average (10-for-15) and collected at least one hit in each of the four games last week, including a 4-for-4 performance with one double, one RBI and two runs scored in the Scots' 5-1 victory against Hendrix College. He added a pair of multi-hit games in the series at Hannibal-LaGrange. For the season, West is batting .448 (56-for-125), with 11 doubles, three home runs, 31 RBI and 30 runs scored. His .448 batting average leads the AMC and ranks fifth in the NAIA.
 
Mack Larson picked up his team-leading seventh win of the season during the series at HLG. His seven wins are tied for second in the AMC this season.
 
BMC enters Tuesday's twin bill at 23-19-1 overall. The Toppers swept a three-game Southern States Athletic Conference series at home against Brewton-Parker this past weekend.
 
Deonteau Rieves leads the Toppers offensively this season with a .337 batting average. Rieves is 33-for-98, with four doubles, 20 RBI and 20 runs scored. Latalo Newson and Nolan Stevens are also batting above .300 this season at .304 and .301, respectively. Newson leads Blue Mountain College with 34 RBI this season.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
Lyon is 14-5 all-time against Blue Mountain College. The Scots swept a home doubleheader against the Toppers earlier this season on Feb. 20. Lyon won by scores of 9-8 and 6-3.
 
NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following Tuesday's doubleheader at Blue Mountain College, the Scots will play their final road games of the 2019 regular season this weekend at Harris-Stowe. Lyon and HSSU will open up a three-game series with a single contest on Friday at 2 p.m. The two teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
