Scots Split with Park on Saturday

Game One: Lyon 8, Park 1 
The score remained knotted at zero until the top of the fifth inning. After Faith Cornmesser hit a one-out single to left field, Addison Harmon worked a walk to put runners on first and second with Cheyenne Black coming to bat. Black delivered an RBI double to left field, plating Cornmesser and giving the Scots their first lead of the game. Next, Breanna Langford executed a perfect squeeze bunt to score Harmon from third and double Lyon's lead.

In the sixth inning, the Siobhan Taylor worked a one-out walk and later stole second base. Next, Kendra Kelley laced a double to left center field, scoring Taylor. This gave the Scots a 3-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.  

The Scots would break the game wide open in the seventh inning. Cheyenne Black opened the frame with a single to center field. With one out, Riley Shawsingled to right field scoring the pinch runner, Camryn Long, from second base. After a walk to Cheyenne Herrera and a sacrifice bunt by Siobhan TaylorKendra Kelley placed a 2-RBI single to center, giving the Scots a 6-0 lead. Lyon would tack on two more runs in the inning as Megan Micke reached on an error and came around to score on a Cornmesser RBI single, making the score 8-0 in favor of the Scots.  

The Pirates would scratch a run across in the bottom of the seventh, but that is all Park would get as Lyon defeated Park by a score of 8-1. Katelyn Platt kept the Pirates off balance all game as she fired a complete-game victory, while allowing only four hits and one unearned run. This complete-game victory moved Platt's record to 10-2 in the circle. Offensively, Kendra Kelley and Cheyenne Black led the charge for the Scots as each recorded two hits in the game. Kelley tallied three RBI's and a stolen base, while Black accounted for one RBI. 

Game Two: Lyon 6, Park 8
The Pirates got on the scoreboard first as they scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Kaylin Brooks and Katie Kurima led off the frame with a pair of singles. After a sacrifice bunt, Nicole Curtis hit an RBI single to plate Brooks. Kurima, then, would come around to score via error later in the inning to give Park a 2-0 advantage after one.

Both sides would scratch a run across in the second inning. The Scots cut the deficit to one on an RBI single by Megan Micke, which plated Siobhan Taylorfrom second. The Pirates answered right back in the bottom of the frame as Kaylin Brooks would come around to score after delivering an infield single earlier in the inning.   

Addison Harmon hit a leadoff single in the top of the third inning and later stole second base. With one out in the inning, Breanna Langford delivered an RBI single into left, scoring Harmon from second. Next, Riley Shaw crushed an RBI double to left center, knotting the game at three. After a Cheyenne Herrerasingle put runners on the corners with one out, Siohban Taylor slapped a single to right field, giving Lyon their first lead of the game.

The score would remain at 4-3 in favor of the Scots until the bottom of the fourth inning. Park used three hits and reached on two errors to plate five Pirates in the frame, giving Park an 8-4 lead after four.

In the top of the sixth inning, Lyon opened the frame with a Megan Micke single and a Faith Cornmesser walk. Following a sac bunt by Harmon, Cheyenne Black singled through the 5-6 hole to score two Lyon runners and cut the deficit in half.

The Scots would go down in order in the top of the seventh and fell to the Pirates, 8-6. Cornmesser started the game in the circle and threw three innings, while giving up three earned runs. Katelyn Platt replaced Cornmesser in the fourth inning and pitched three innings, while giving up one earned run and striking out one Pirate. Offensively, Cheyenne Black paced the Scots as she tallied three hits and one RBI.

The Scots continue the road trip as they take on William Woods University for a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17.
