Baseball Falls Twice at CBC

CONWAY, Ark. – The Lyon College baseball team's 13-game winning streak came to an end on Friday afternoon as the Scots dropped the first two games of a three-game American Midwest Conference series at Central Baptist College. The Scots fell by scores of 5-1 and 7-2 in the twin bill. Lyon dropped to 15-4 (3-2 AMC) with the two losses, while CBC improved to 10-10 (3-2 AMC). The two teams will play the series finale on Saturday beginning at noon.

Game One: CBC 5, Lyon 1

A pair of two-run innings helped the Mustangs to a series-opening victory over the Scots. CBC scored twice in the bottom of the first and added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Mustangs added another run in the bottom of the sixth before Kylan Barnett drove in a run for the Scots in the top of the seventh.

Barnett finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Zane Pritchard and Troy Strack added two hits each for the Scots.

Marcelo Terrazas was tagged for the loss.

Game Two: CBC 7, Lyon 2

CBC jumped out to a 7-0 lead over the Scots after five innings thanks to four runs in the first, two in the second and one more in the fifth. The Scots cut into the CBC lead in the top of the eighth on a two-run home run by Barnett, but CBC held Lyon scoreless the rest of the way.

Barnett went 2-for-4 at the plate with the home run, two RBI and a run scored.

Ryan Porras suffered the loss after allowing four runs in the first inning.
