BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's basketball team (No. 19-nationally ranked) went head-to-head with Lindenwood-Belleville for the second time in a five-day span on Wednesday night inside Becknell Gymnasium. The two teams met up in the regular-season finale this past Saturday, when the Scots defeated the Lady Lynx, 89-59. The two teams met up this time in the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference Tournament as the No. 3-seed Scots came out on top again and defeated the No. 6-seed Lady Lynx, 68-58. The Scots will now travel to Columbia, Mo., and face the No. 2-seed Columbia College Cougars on Friday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals.

With the win, the Scots improved to 24-6, while LUB ended its season at 15-16.

The Scots controlled much of the game from the start in the last meeting between the two teams, but Wednesday's game had a much different story to begin with. The Lady Lynx relied on their top scorer in Brianna Mueller for much of their production in the opening minutes of the game. Mueller entered the game averaging 20.6 points per game, which led the AMC and ranked fifth in the NAIA. Mueller scored eight of the first 11 points for LUB as the Lady Lynx took an 11-6 lead over the Scots five minutes into the game. The Scots got a bucket each by Henderson and Turner to knot the score at 11-11 before another basket by Mueller gave LUB a 13-11 advantage. A three-pointer by Henderson in the Scots' next possession put Lyon ahead, 14-13, before the two teams went on to exchange the lead until a free throw by Dodson tied the game at 17-17 after the first quarter.

Lyon began to pull away from LUB midway through the second quarter. A jumper by Henderson with 6:22 left in the quarter opened up a 9-2 run by the Scots as a pair of free throws by French gave Lyon a 28-22 lead. Lindenwood-Belleville pulled back within three over the next two minutes before a three by Tucker followed by a jumper by Turner pushed the lead to eight for the Scots. LUB got one final bucket by Sydney Kremer just before the end of the half to cut the deficit to six at 35-29.

Much like the second quarter, Lyon controlled much of the third period. The Scots opened up the period with a quick, 6-0, run after getting a basket each by French, Riley and Turner to push their lead to double-digits. Lyon extended its lead to as many as 15 late in the half after a bucket by Riley gave Lyon a 53-38 advantage with 1:59 left in the quarter. LUB cut the deficit to 11 late in the quarter as the Scots took a 54-43 lead into the final period.

The Scots once again extended their lead to 15 points in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Lady Lynx would not go away quietly. LUB stormed back to cut the deficit to eight with 2:39 remaining, but that would be as close as the Lady Lynx would get the rest of the way.

French posted a double-double for the Scots as she finished with a game-high 19 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. Riley chipped in 15 points, while Turner and Henderson added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Mueller ended with a team-high 14 points for LUB.
