GAME FLOW
Lyon College struck first as Megan Micke led off the game by working a walk. Micke then stole second and came all the way around to score on an errant throw by UCA's catcher, Lauren Brooks. This gave the Scots a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the first.
The Bears, however, responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame, taking a 2-1 lead. Central Arkansas tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run by Cylla Hill.
Facing a 4-1 deficit heading into the fourth inning, the Scots mounted their comeback. Faith Cornmesser opened the inning with a leadoff single. After Addison Harmon reached on a throwing error and Melanie Mooney reached via hit by pitch, the Scots loaded the bases with nobody out. After a strikeout, Lyon capitalized on two errors by UCA's defense to cut the deficit to just one. Megan Micke, then, worked a bases loaded walk to knot the score at four. Like her teammate, Cheyenne Black walked as well plating another Scot, earning Lyon a 5-4 lead. After a wild pitch scored Kendra Kelley, Harmon batted for the second time in the inning and delivered a two-out RBI single to left field, giving the Scots a 7-4 advantage.
In the fifth inning, the Bears had runners on second and third with nobody out. Katelyn Platt, though, was excellent in the circle all night and worked out of trouble to minimize the damage by only allowing one run in the frame.
The score would remain 7-5 in favor of the Scots until the bottom of the seventh inning. UCA's Kaylyn Shepherd led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run cutting the Lyon lead in half. Platt, though, remained calm and threw her best pitches of the night, retiring the next three batters in order to give the Scots a 7-6 victory.
Cornmesser went 2-4 on the afternoon with two singles to lead the Scots offense, while Platt earned the complete game victory, her second on the year.
