No. 21 Scots Travel to Missouri for Two AMC Games

The 21st-ranked Lyon College women’s basketball team will play two conference games in the state of Missouri this weekend

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 21st-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team defeated Williams Baptist, 66-51, last night in the American Midwest Conference 'Game of the Week' inside Becknell Gymnasium. The Scots will now take to the road for their next two conference games later this week. Lyon will play at Harris-Stowe on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and at Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday at 1 p.m.

THE MATCHUP

LYON: The Scots improved to 6-1 overall, 3-0 in the AMC with their win over WBU last night. Madison Riley led the Scots with 17 points in the win, while Liz Henderson and Kristen Baham chipped in 14 and 11 points, respectively. Riley recently moved into 10th all-time in program history for career points and now just needs two more points to pass Carina Jackson for ninth all-time. Jackson scored 1,346 points during her career from 2013-16. Riley is the leading scorer for the Scots this season, averaging 16.1 points per game.

HSSU: Harris-Stowe enters Thursday night's game at 1-5, 0-2 AMC. HSSU dropped a close game on the road at William Woods last night by a score of 69-61. Surina Finnie is the leading scorer for HSSU as she is averaging 12.2 points per game. LaDaijha Watson is the only other player averaging double figures in scoring for Harris-Stowe at 10.2 points per game.  

HLG: Hannibal-LaGrange enters this weekend's conference games at 2-5, 0-2 AMC. HLG will host Central Baptist College on Thursday night before the Scots make the trip to town on Saturday. Emma Anderson is the top player for HLG as she leads the team in scoring (11.0 PPG) and rebounding (6.3 RPG). 

SERIES HISTORY

The Scots hold a perfect 16-0 record all-time against Hannibal-LaGrange and are 15-1 all-time against HSSU.

The lone loss against HSSU for the Scots came on Jan. 10 of last season, when Harris-Stowe defeated Lyon, 75-72, in St. Louis.  

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS

Following this weekend's AMC games, this Scots will return home and open up a four-game home stand with a non-conference game against [RV] Philander Smith College on Dec. 14 at noon.
