COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Lyon College men's basketball team came up short in its final game of the 2019 calendar year as the Scots fell on the road at The W by a score of 66-61 on Monday evening. The W improved to 3-10, while the Scots fell to 9-4 on the year.

The Scots led three times during the first half against the Owls with the last time occurring at the 12:31 mark on a jumper by Grant Patterson to put the score at 11-10 in favor of Lyon. The W regained the lead and carried a 25-19 advantage into the locker room following a three-pointer by Dominique Loyd just before the buzzer.

The Owls pushed their lead to 10 points four minutes into the second half before the Scots began to chip away and cut the deficit to one at 40-39 on a pair of free throws by Ray Price with 10:30 remaining. The Scots kept it at a one-possession game until a 12-5 run by the Owls gave The W a 56-49 lead. Lyon tried to make a comeback late, but the Owls sealed the game from the charity stripe.

Cole Anderson and Patterson led the Scots with 12 points each. Keith Harris led all scorers with a game-high 25 points for The W.

The Scots will return home to host No. 18 Central Baptist College on Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. in Becknell Gymnasium.
