BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's basketball team stormed back from a seven-point deficit and outscored Williams Baptist, 44-29, in the second half to seal at 69-60 victory over the Eagles. The victory moved the Scots to 7-2 (3-0 American Midwest Conference), while WBU slipped to 1-5 (0-2 AMC).

The Scots set the tone early and took a 16-6 lead over the Eagles with 13:30 left the first half on a free throw by Zalek Sharp. Williams Baptist held the Scots to just three points over the next six minutes to tie the game at 19-19 before the Eagles pulled ahead, 31-23, on a jumper by Malcolm Taylor. A pair of free throws by Grant Patterson at the 1:55 mark were the final two points of the first half as Lyon trailed, 31-25, at the break.

After a bucket by Shamond Garrett gave WBU a 38-31 lead with 16:26 remaining, the Scots started their comeback. Ray Price, Sharp and Patterson sparked a 9-2 run for the Scots as Patterson tied the game at 40-40 with a three. WBU quickly regained the lead on a three-pointer by Aaron King at the 11:48 mark, but that would be the final time the Eagles would lead as Dominique Loyd knocked down back-to-back threes to give the Scots a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Patterson led the Scots with a team-high 17 points, while Price and Hunter Daley chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively. King led all scorers with a game-high 20 points for WBU.

The Scots will head to Missouri for two American Midwest Conference matchups later this week. Lyon will face Harris-Stowe on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. and end the road trip on Saturday at Hannibal-LaGrange at 3 p.m.
